The Németh family cellar sits in the Iván Valley just on the edge of Szekszárd, with winemaking roots going back at least four generations. Janó Németh started young, very young — he'd already logged more than twenty harvests before most winemakers hit their stride — and turned the family tradition into one of Szekszárd's most dynamic small estates, growing it patiently, vineyard by vineyard.
Today Janos, along with his wife Adrienn and their young son, farm just over ten hectares scattered across a string of Szekszárd's named valleys and hillsides — Iván, Porkoláb, Görögszó, Gyűszű, Baranya — organically cultivated since 2019, all on the region's deep loess. The motto says everything: "Simply, from the vineyard." Kadarka ferments spontaneously in open vats; the bigger reds age in Hungarian oak; nothing is pushed past what the site gives.
The range runs the full Szekszárd songbook: bright, spicy Kadarka — a national Kadarka category winner at the Wine of the Hungarian Parliament competition — dark-fruited Kékfrankos, classic Bikavér, and a traditional Siller, the rosé-red hybrid the old Swabian growers nicknamed Fuxli, "baby fox," for its color. Janos also helps organize the Iván Valley's annual Kadarka Tour each June, because in this valley, the grape is a neighborhood affair.
