Wine is older than silver in Kutná Hora — vines grew on these slopes centuries before the medieval silver mining boom made the town one of the richest in Europe. Vinné Sklepy Kutná Hora is bringing that legacy back, replanting historic vineyard sites around the UNESCO-listed town, an hour east of Prague.
Led by Lukas Rudolfský — the estate went chemical-free in 2009 and became the Czech Republic's first and only fully Demeter certified biodynamic winery in 2014. The farming is the real thing: sheep grazing the rows, trees planted among the vines, house-made herbal extracts instead of sprays, and compost, biochar, and water-catching swales keeping the soil alive.
The wines land everywhere from Michelin-listed Prague restaurants to the Wine PUNK line's more rebellious bottlings — Bohemian wine, in every sense, from a town that once minted Europe's money and now grows something better. You had better believe "Bohemia is the new Burgundy!"
